This project deals with a perception and a response to a question. It all started with the outcome of a reaction that would not be my personal opinion. For this, I posted the following question: “With one word how would you describe Latin America.” I posted this question in both English and Spanish on more than twenty forums on the internet and emailed every single person I could. My desire was to get as many responses as possible as well as a point of view from all type backgrounds. I received more than two hundred responses, in more than one language, all from different countries and continents.
What you see in front of you are boxes which are storing those answers. I chose the box to present my project simply because we use boxes to store and deliver objects from one place to another, in this case what has been delivered are words, the ones I’ve been gathering for the past couple of weeks. I chose to cover the boxes with jute because my desire was to portrait a natural outer shell; this fabric is used to protect what I am delivering.
This was an important project because it deals with what is important to me, which is the place where I come from and how it is perceived by others. “Amasijo” means in Spanish a muddled mixture composed of different ingredients.

Este proyecto se ponen frente a frente la percepcion y la respuesta a una pregunta. Todo empezo con algo que yo tenia en mente, pero no queria que todo tuviera mi punto de vista. Entonces decidi anunciar la siguiente pregunta: En una palabra, como describirias a America Latina. La pregunta la puse en mas de veinte foros en el internet, y mande mensajes de correo electronico a todos mis contactos. Recibi mas de doscientas respuestas en el lapso de 3 semanas. Queria que las respuestas tuvieras la mayor diversidad posible. Recibi respuestas de muchos paises y diferentes continentes.

Lo que ven en frente suyo son las cajas que estan guardando estas palabras. Escogi las cajas para presentar mi proyecto, ya que las cajas las usamos para guardar y llevar cosas de un lado para el otro. En este caso son las palabras las que se estan llevando. Elegi cubrir las cajas con yute, ya que siento que es un tipo de fabricacion natural y eso es lo que queria que se sintiera al verlas.

Esto fue un proyecto importante para mi, ya que trata de la precepcion de otros sobre el lugar de donde yo vengo y me resulta interesante saber que es lo que piensan o sienten. Le nombre al proyecto "Amasijo" que significa, mezcla desordenada de cosas o especies heterogeneas.
